The Oil Industry Deregulation Act of 1998, or Republic Act No. 8479 in the Philippines, is a law that aimed to deregulate the downstream oil industry in the country. Its primary objectives were to introduce competition and market forces, reduce government control over oil pricing, and establish the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM).
