The Foundation for Economic Freedom (FEF) is a public advocacy organization dedicated to advancing the cause of economic and political liberty, good governance, secure and well-defined property rights, market-oriented reforms, and consumer protection.
FEF is looking for a Senior Finance and Compliance Officer (Full-time) from February 01, 2024, to June 30, 2024, with a possible extension.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Finance and Compliance Officer position entails a combined operational and strategic role, managing accounting and financial control functions, and establishing a financial strategy for the sustainable long-term growth of the foundation.
The Senior Finance and Compliance Officer will head the Finance Unit and will supervise the Finance Officer and Accountant of the Foundation. He/She shall perform a wide range of duties including but not limited to the following:
- Financial Accounting and Reporting. Ensure accurate and timely financial recording, reporting, and analysis to provide a clear view of the Foundation's financial position.
- Payroll Administration. Manage payroll functions efficiently and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Budget Preparation. Spearhead the preparation of budgets for projects, activities, grant applications, and bidding solicitations, aligning financial resources with strategic priorities in coordination with the Director for Projects and Administration.
- Project Accounting Management. Ensure a systematic tracking of project-related finances, including budget compliance, cost control, and financial performance analysis.
- Compliance and Risk Management. Implement and monitor financial policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance while actively identifying and mitigating financial risks.
- Funds Forecasting. Develop financial forecasting models to guide the Foundation's resource allocation decisions and sustainably manage financial resources.
- External and Partner Audit Preparation. Coordinate the preparation for external audits and collaborate with partners to ensure a seamless audit process that complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Understands financial reporting, has extensive knowledge of accounting principles, and has strong analytical skills;
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Accountancy;
- At least ten (10) years of work experience in accounting and financial management, including data analysis and financial forecasting;
- Highly proficient in accounting tools and software;
- Preferably have knowledge of Quickbooks;
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) and Master of Business Administration or a Master’s in Finance is a plus; and
- Must be willing to work full-time.
